The Grand View Point Trail is located on the southern tip of the Island In The Sky area of Canyonlands National Park. It’s a short, out-and-back trail that ends at Grand View Point and provides a 360-degree view of the surrounding canyons which were formed by the Colorado and Green Rivers. The hike is relatively easy because it’s mostly on flat ground, but it allows you to get treacherously close to the edge of the canyon on each side, which is both exciting and unnerving. To be honest, I usually have a bad time with exposure like that, but I didn’t have any trouble on this hike. It’s almost like you’re so high up above the surrounding area that it doesn’t feel real… almost like you’re in outerspace looking down on the Earth below.

- View from Grand View Point Overlook In this picture, you can see where the eastern side of Island In The Sky (on the left), that contains the Colorado River, meets the western side (on the right), that contains the Green River. The rivers converge beyond Junction Butte in the middle of the picture.
- Look, Ma! For some reason, I wasn't bothered by the heights. It felt like being in outer space. You're SO high up that it doesn't feel like it.
