Canyonland National Park is one of the “Big Five” national parks in Utah, the others being Arches, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef and Zion. It’s hard to argue against the appeal of the natural arches in Arches and the absolutely spectacular, well, everything in Zion, but for me the views of the vast expanse that surrounds Canyonlands is my favorite in the bunch. My two visits to Canyonlands took place throughout the Island In The Sky area of the park that separates contains the canyon formed by the Colorado River on the east and the canyon formed by the Green River on the west.
