While this wasn’t the true hike that I expected to take at Bandelier National Monument, it was enjoyable. On my trips, I’ve discovered that I find the parts regarding ancient civilizations really interesting, especially cliff dwellings. This was a short path but it packed a lot into it. The beginning passed through the valley along the ruins of a large kiva and the pueblo ruins of Tyuonyi. Then the path turned north to the cliff face and then took me through the cliff dwellings themselves, even a few opportunities to climb into them and see the insides. The final part of the hike amounted to a leisurely nature walk with presentations on the flora and fauna found in the park.
